How Our Homestead Grew Through Sustainable Living

This is the story of how choosing self-sufficiency reshaped everyday life—bringing more productivity, deeper purpose, and a whole lot more satisfaction. By leaning into sustainable practices, the homestead didn’t just grow… it thrived.

In 2010, I built our 1,600 sq. ft. home with my own hands. Once the house was complete, I turned to the backyard, creating a thriving garden with raised beds, a green house, and a homestead built around sustainable, self-reliant living. Today, the home and garden are full of life, and I’m sharing our story, projects, and lessons to inspire anyone looking to grow, build, and live closer to the land. This is my story…

Improving Everyday Homestead Life with Simple, Smart Solutions

I didn’t set out to create a full homestead. I started small—just one raised bed in the backyard. But as I dug, planted, and nurtured it, I began to see the possibilities. That single bed grew into multiple beds, then a greenhouse, fruit trees, and a garden that stretched across a quarter-acre. Each project built on the last, teaching me lessons about patience, resourcefulness, and the rewards of hard work. What began as a simple experiment became a living, thriving homestead—and the journey of building it is a story I’m excited to share.

Building a Sustainable Future with Thoughtful Planning

As the garden grew, I learned to preserve every harvest—canning, freezing, and pickling to turn fresh produce into lasting meals. Season by season, I discovered the satisfaction of living off what the land provides and keeping the homestead thriving year-round.

Discover Life on the Homestead

With each preserved harvest and every project completed, it became clear to me that homesteading wasn’t just a hobby—it was the life I truly wanted to live, a life rooted in self-reliance, connection to the land, and the simple rewards of hard work.
